Project 365: Days 47 - 53

Day 47: A day at the park (bottom left) - it was a glorious sunny Winters day so we decided to take the boys to Cyfarthfa Park.  We enjoyed a walk around the lake and then went cross country.  I love this photo of hubby with our youngest son.

Day 48: Vaccinations (top middle) - Today was the day of my youngest sons booster shots, including the MMR booster.  I was anticipating lots of tears but he was so brave and barely whimpered.  We told him that he was having soldiers put in to fight the bad germs and he liked this idea.

Day 49: Towel boy (top right) - this is E coming out of the shower.  He loves being all wrapped up in his towel.

Day 50: Gymnast (top left) - Z has gymnastic lessons and really enjoys them.  Here he is waiting his turn to practice jumping over the horse.

Day 51: Breakfast (middle left) - coming back from the morning school run and O insisted on stopping in the shop to get some pain au chocolat for breakfast.  He refused to let them go when he was sat in the car.

Day 52: Numbers (middle right) - we are in Warrington for the weekend to visit friends.  It was a lovely day so we took the children to the park to play.  O found this counting board and we spent ages going through the different numbers as we've been doing number recognition at home.

Day 53: Science (bottom right) - today we got the train into Manchester and took the children to MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry).  We all loved it there; there was so much to do and see.  We even had a ride on a steam train.  It was difficult to choose a photo from the day but I liked this one of E.

Project 365: Days 90 - 96

Day 90: Chocolate! - I never usually get an Easter egg all to myself but hubby surprised me with this massive Dairy Milk one.  Happy Easter to me.

Day 91: My boys - We went to my in-laws for lunch and an Easter egg hunt which the boys thoroughly enjoyed.  This is after they'd found (and eaten) their chocolate.

Day 92: More chocolate - there's just too much of it in the house.  I finished off this bag of mini eggs as I figured that the sooner it was eaten the better.  The problem is there's still lots more to eat.  Well, if I must.....

Day 93: LEGO - my oldest son has started following the instructions to build LEGO vehicles.  He's really good at it and follows the instructions perfectly.  He obviously takes after me.

Day 94: Shower - almost a year after ripping our old shower out we finally have a brand new one.  It's amazing.

Day 95: Painting rocks - we had a bit of a craft day today.  The older boys did their homework ready to go back to school next week and then we painted some rocks and anything else the boys could get their hands on.  It was great fun.

Day 96: Pampering - I went on a spa day to my local hotel and had an eye treatment and a manicure.  It was bliss to sit there in peace, have a lovely lunch with a glass or two of wine, and a chat.  I feel very chilled out now.  Maybe I should do it more often.

I'm a DIY disaster

Tots 100 and are running an amazing competition and have challenged us to makeover a room of our choice. I've agonised over which room to choose as my heart wants to do the spare bedroom to turn it into the perfect sleeping and playing place for my two youngest boys, but my head tells me that it needs to be my en-suite bathroom.  This is the reason why.

Firstly, I will admit that this is self inflicted.  Around six months ago I asked my father to rip out the shower in my en-suite as the lovely mosaic tiles that were fitted eight years ago were falling off the walls and causing water to leak through to the kitchen ceiling.  I was getting an increasingly large water stain on my kitchen ceiling and was worried about the shower ending up downstairs!  The problem was that we didn't have the money to replace it.  Needless to say, my husband was not best pleased with what I'd done.

Every morning I wake up and feel miserable at the empty space in my en-suite.  Every night my husband comes home from work and gives me 'that look' before running the bath.  Even my six year old son keeps asking when we'll have a shower again.  Though the spiders are loving it.  There's these lovely big, brown ones that keep coming out of the walls to find warmth in the house *shudder*  My five year old son refuses to go into the room any more though, but he managed it for a short time in order to tell you about the spiders.

It is my dream to surprise my husband and children with a lovely, shiny new room that no spiders can access.

Enough of the misery, onto the dream.

I want to create a sanctuary; something calming and gentle that will co-ordinate with my bedroom.  Neutral tones, contemporary lines and a splash of colour.  I'd love more storage, a basin that stands on a unit and posh taps.  Oh, and a heated towel rail.  I've always wanted one of those.  I quite like the shower boards instead of tiles.  No chance of any spiders getting through those!  Take a look at my Pinterest board to see more of my ideas and plans.  The only trouble is, the more I pin the more I want!

This would be the ultimate room, but unfortunately even a renovation wouldn't give me that.  I'd need a new house!

A huge thank you to Tots 100 and for this competition.  Even if I don't win I've now got all my ideas ready for when we can afford to do the work. painting and decorating
