Project 365: Days 40 - 46

Apologies for the photos being out of order, it was the only way I could get them to fit in the collage.

Day 40: Car trip - I thought it was very sweet that my oldest and youngest were holding hands in the car, though as you can see my middle boy wasn't so happy.  He wanted to get in on the photo but gave me the 'evil eyes' .

Day 41: Weight training - I've got my weights out in the bedroom as I'm supposed to be working out (I haven't managed to start yet), so O thought it would be great fun to do a bit of weight training.

Day 42: Sleeping - I tried out The Boy and Me's trick of using alternative lighting to take a photo at night.  I like the way the torch has lit up the photo without washing the colour out.

Day 43: Sleeping buddies - I couldn't resist taking a photo of O and E asleep together.  They looked so cute.

Day 44 : Journey to school - We were on our way to school and I loved how sweet E looked with his hat on.  I had stopped the car before I took the photo! ;-)

Day 45: Valentines - this is the card that my boys made for me.  I love it.

Day 46: Ukulele - O wouldn't go to bed tonight, instead coming back down to play a little tune on his ukulele.  He might be following his older brother with his love of music.

Project 365: Days 97 - 103

Day 97: Rocking fun - My little one discovered his rocking cow that I'd just put on eBay.  He hasn't touched it for months but must have known that it was time for it to go.  He did have a fun five minutes playing on it, though he is a bit big for it now.

Day 98: Rex - this is the only dog we'll have for the foreseeable future.  Good friends of ours bought him for the boys and they all love him.  I'd love a pet for the children at some point but I know it would be too much at the moment. Maybe when they're a little bit older.

Day 99: Sleeping like a baby - My oldest boy is turning seven this week.  I can remember the day he was born like it was yesterday and I can't believe that seven years have passed since then.  He tries to act so grown up but when I watch him sleeping I remember how young he really is.

Day 100: Making lists - he's hard at work making a list of friends that he wants to invite to his birthday party.  He's so excited about it and can't wait to give the invitations out.  That's my job for tomorrow.

Day 101: The little one and I went out for lunch with friends and it obviously wore the poor little thing out.  He fell fast asleep as soon as we got home and that's where he stayed for some time.  I try not to let him sleep during the day as it's hard work to get him to bed in the night but he must have needed this.

Day 102: Book Day - The boys school had a book day today where all the children got to dress up and take their favourite book into school.  My middle boy decided to go as Harry Potter and I thought he looked amazing all dressed up.  My oldest went as one of the boys from The Famous Five (I think so that he didn't have to wear a costume).

Day 103: Fascination - We spent the weekend with good friends in Manchester and we all had a wonderful time.  My little one was fascinated with the front camera on my phone so I ended up taking lots of photos of him.

Project 365: Days 62 - 68

Day 62: Seaside fun - well, at least it was supposed to be.  We decided to drive down to the Gower in Swansea and stopped at Oxwich Bay.  The sun was (almost) shining so we got a ball from the car and headed down the beach.  It was so cold and windy that the little one refused to walk and the older two complained bitterly.  We lasted about 15 minutes before heading back to the car.  Hubby was told in work the next day that Oxwich is renowned for being windy, hence all the surfing action there.  Hmm, I never knew that....

Day 63: Toddler tantrums - I worked today so not much opportunity to take photos, but I took this one of the toddler after he threw his duvet out of the cot, no doubt complaining about going to bed.

Day 64: Fast asleep -  Again, another day in work so another bedtime photo.  This is my middle boy surrounded by his toys.  He loves all his cuddly toys and can't sleep unless he has them all in bed with him.  One of his favourites at the moment is Luigi (because he's green).

Day 65: Show me the rabbit -  The little one and I spent the afternoon at my mum's and my sister took O out to show him the bunny rabbit.  He enjoyed stroking him for all of 30 seconds before a football caught his attention.  I think the rabbit was quite pleased though as the poor thing was petrified.

Day 66: Poorly boy - O has come down with a cough and cold so asked to sleep in my bed.  I do love having cuddles with him and could spend hours just watching him sleep.

Day 67: Train-time - Oliver insists on having a train track built for him every day.  He loves nothing more than attaching all the trains together and running them around the track.

Day 68: School work - I had parents evening for my oldest son this week and I was so proud to be told how well he is doing in school.  He really enjoys learning and does a bit of work every day at home.  He's got this book where he writes stories and draws pictures to go with them.  He's my little budding author.

Disorganised mum

There's just over a week to go before my older two boys go back to school.  My oldest will be starting Year 2 and my middle boy will be going into Reception.  They are both looking forward to seeing all their friends and I am looking forward to no more fighting seeing their happy, smiling faces at the school gates.  I can't wait to see them back in their uniforms, with their new shoes and packed lunch bags.  The only problem is I haven't actually bought any of them yet.

I'll make all the usual excuses now.  The holiday has flown by, it's hard to go shopping with all three boys, work, life, money, children, everything seems to get in the way.  The truth is though, I'm really disorganised. I spend a lot of my time planning but never actually doing anything about it.  It's all in my head but I find it difficult to put things into action.

I am very much the type of person that likes to work under pressure; I find I get more things done when I've got a deadline looming.  I'll sit and think about everything I've got to do but unless it needs to be done instantly I file it away somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind.

Then I have these really proactive days where I get loads done, I feel full of energy and positivity and life is good.  The problem is that these are few and far between.

Every so often I decide that I need to get organised and make lists of everything that I need to do and not wait until last minute.  Then all of a sudden it is the last minute and I haven't done anything again.  How does that happen?

I've always called myself a lazy mum.  I don't believe in making things difficult for myself and will always try to find the easy option.  My children all slept with me when they were babies as I was breastfeeding and so it meant I didn't have to get out of bed to feed them (and I also liked having them in bed with me).  I even used to joke that I breastfed because I was too lazy to make up bottles (that really is a joke as breastfeeding isn't the easiest thing to do, not in the early days at least).

I do get things done (eventually) and I don't think that it has any real detrimental effect on anyone (though it probably frustrates friends and family who expect things done quickly).

This is even a disorganised post.  I intended to talk about getting my children ready to go back to school and I end up going off on a tangent.

So, back to school.  Sometimes good things really do come to those who wait.  I like to enter competitions and today I won a £25 voucher for Clothing at Tesco, so this will go some way towards buying their uniforms.  That will be a huge help as there's a lot to get for the two boys.  I'm also going to get their school shoes this weekend so that'll be another item ticked off my list (if I had one that is).

I know I'll get it all done.  I did last year.  Don't my boys look handsome in their uniforms?

So I've decided that I'm going to make a list of everything I need to do and buy over the weekend.  By the time I go back to work on Tuesday it will all be bought or ordered.  But perhaps I'll write my list tomorrow.  After all, it's late now and I've got tweets to write cleaning to do before bed.

If anyone has any tips or advice to help cure me of my laziness and rescue me from my disorganised life then I'd love to hear it.  Otherwise a slap across the face may work.

Nearly time for school....

I've started so many blog posts over the last few weeks that I never quite managed to finished.  The school holidays are a busy (and sometimes stressful) six weeks what with having three boys aged 5 and under all racing around the house.  Yes, even the baby is on the move now so I need eyes in the back of my head!  But only a few more days and Zac will be starting Year 1, and Ethan is off to Nursery class.  I have got mixed emotions as I can't believe Ethan is starting school.  Ollie is going to really miss having him at home to play with too.  I can't wait to see him in his uniform but he's my baby boy.  I'm going to miss him.  But he's looking forward to being in school with his big brother.  I know he's going to love it.

So just a quick post tonight.  I wanted to get back into the habit of blogging, and I was determined to actually get to hit that 'Publish Post' button.  Going to have to play catch up now.......
