Project 365: Days 54 - 60

It's our half term this week - a week later than most other areas.  It's been a week of guitar practise, lost teeth, Minecraft (that game seems to be taking over our lives) and indoor picnics due to the bad weather.  We've also had the obligatory half term project which involves designing a poster for St Davids Day.

Day 54: Another tooth has come out!
Day 55: The books on my bedside table
Day 56: Guitar lesson
Day 57: Playing Minecraft
Day 58: Indoor picnic
Day 59: This dinosaur seems to be following me today
Day 60: The school project is half done! Happy St Davids Day.

Project 365: Days 26 - 32

Day 26: Haircuts - All three boys needed a haircut so we took them to the local barbers.  This was the first time that O has sat calmly in the chair himself, but the look on his face made me laugh.  I don't think he opened his eyes the whole time his hair was being cut.

Day 27: Teeth - E lost his tooth at school today.  Well, to be precise, his cousin dropped it down the drain after school.  It was a shame as it was the first tooth that has fallen out, but we decided that he should write a letter to the tooth fairy to explain what happened.  It was very sweet and really well written.

Day 28: Drawing - Z has been drawing on one of those sketching boards and I was quite impressed with the detail in this picture of a train with lots of passengers.  I thought I should capture it for posterity as soon after his little brother wiped it clean again.

Day 29: Swimming - O has been refusing to go swimming as he said he's scared so I decided that I need to start taking him every week to get him used to the water as I'd like him to start swimming lessons soon, like his brothers.  It took me twenty minutes to actually get him out of the house as he didn't want to go, and then another ten minutes in the changing room trying to get him to undress.  After a lot of bribery gentle persuasion I eventually managed to get him into the pool, and once in, he loved it!  By the end of the hour he was jumping in and swimming with the help of a noodle.  It was amazing and I'm so glad I took him.  We'll be going every week now.

Day 30: Toy box - O has acquired a new Thomas The Tank Engine toy box from my parents house, and is so enamoured with it that he sat in it for ages saying "choo-choo".

Day 31: Bubble wrap - this isn't the best photo as O is moving.  As the weather is so rubbish at the moment we decided to lay out bubble wrap on the floor and pop it by jumping on it.  We had great fun for ages with this.

Day 32: Classics - Another awful weather today so we had an indoor picnic lunch and watched Mary Poppins on Netflix.  E loved it and I sang along to all the songs (he probably didn't love that bit).

Project 365: Days 12 - 18

Day 12: Bathtime - Sunday night is always a busy night getting everything ready for school and work the next day, but I love bathtime when they get to play for a while.

Day 13: Mummy's bed - O is up late as usual and wants to sleep in my bed. I do usually let him for a little while as I love the cuddles.

Day 14: Number practise - O is practising copying numbers and is doing really well. It's hard to see in this photo but he's done a perfect number 2. I was really impressed.

Day 15: Puddles - O does love jumping in puddles and he seemed to find this one particularly fascinating.  It was in the middle of my office car park so not the ideal place to stop but it was really hard to get him away.

Day 16: Baking - I made a lemon drizzle cake to take to lunch with my friends and O insisted on me making chocolate brownies too.  In hindsight I think his ploy all along was just to get to lick the spoon.

Day 17: Kickboxing - Z has gone up a group in kickboxing and does more sparring now so we got him all the padding that he needs. He had to try his headguard and gloves on straight away.

Day 18: Brotherly - E and O cuddle all the time and I love catching them on camera. These are the photos that I'll love to look back on in a few years time.

Project 365 - Days 5 - 11

Day 5: End of Christmas - The tree is down and this is all that's left.  I like to keep one Christmas item out until the 12th night so this is it.  I felt more than ready to take the decorations down this year.

Day 6: Ouch! - This is the photo of my youngest son sleeping.  He was pretending to hang glide on my curtains (never a good idea in itself) when he knocked down a heavy wooden elephant ornament which landed on his toes.  As you can imagine, he screamed the place down for ages and refused to have ice put on it.  It was swollen and bruised and he cried himself to sleep.

Day 7: Dominoes - a rare photo of my two oldest children playing nicely together.  The old fashioned games are the best.

Day 8: Reading - O brought me one of his treasured Thomas The Tank Engine books to read.  We had a lovely time reading and looking at the pictures.

Day 9: Car Seat - I decided to move O into a high back booster as he looked too big for his old car seat.  He was so excited and said that he's a big boy now, just like his brothers.  It's very strange seeing him in this car seat.  He's not my baby any more (well, he will always be my baby but he won't let me call him that!)

Day 10: Trains - O is brilliant at building train tracks.  If I do make one for him he just takes it apart and changes it so now I leave him to it.  He changes pieces around until it all fits together like a big jigsaw.

Day 11: Food! - we decided to go to our favourite restaurant in Cardiff for lunch.  My boys love Bellinis Italian restaurant and order the same food every time we go, but it's great to see them enjoying their food so much.  We did have to ask the waitress for more parmesan cheese a few times - the boys are addicted to the stuff!

Project 365: Days 1-4

I attempted to join in with The Boy And Me and Project 365 last year, but only made it halfway.  This year I want to complete the whole year, so after reading a few tips here are my first few days.

Day 1: Cluedo - Santa got the board game Cluedo for the boys for Christmas (mainly because mummy mentioned that it was her favourite childhood board game), so we pulled this out to play.  It took a while for the boys to get the gist of the game, so I won and was accused of cheating for the rest of the night.  My 7 year old is such a sore loser ;-)

Day 2: Mickey - I was trying to get a good shot of my youngest in the bath, but he insisted that I took a photo of his favourite bath toy - Mickey - too.

Day 3: Cleaning - O decided that he wanted to help me with the cleaning, but he was far more interested in what the suction felt like on his hand.  I love this photo as he just looks so cheeky.

Day 4: Superheroes - O tried on his new superhero onesie and was fully getting into character.

Project 365: Days 188 - 194

Day 188: It was so hot today that we got the paddling pool out.  The boys thought is was brilliant and they jumped straight in.  Even Ollie enjoyed himself.

Day 189: It was a real struggle to get Ollie to bed tonight.  He kept coming down and when I told him off he sat at the bottom of the stairs in a bit of a strop.

Day 190: My pumpkins are growing! I am growing quite a few bits of veg this year, but the pumpkins fascinate me the most.  The plants are getting really big and I can't believe all of this has grown from one seed.  Fingers crossed we'll have a pumpkin for Halloween.

Day 191: Ollie was in a funny mood today and was dancing around with his socks on his hands, making me laugh.

Day 192: I appear to have a Harry Potter in the garden.  Ethan does love dressing up.

Day 193: Ollie was hiding his eyes behind his hands and giggling hysterically when I said peepo.

Day 194: A rare photo of Zac, just because I don't seem to get as many of him as he's getting older.  He is growing up so fast.

Project 365: Days 181-187

tr

Day 181: Day trip to St Fagans - Museum of Natural History.  I've always loved St Fagans.  I used to go there on school trips when I was in younger so we decided to take the boys there.  We had a great day, even if it was a bit cold.

Day 182: After school fun - what's better than bouncing on the trampoline on a warm summer evening.

Day 183: Sleepy - Ollie fell fast asleep on me not long after I got home from work.  He must have been a busy boy.

Day 184: Drinks - I love watching him drinking out of a normal cup as he concentrates so much.

Day 185: Dinosaurs - Ollie asked me to build him a dinosaur track instead of his usual train track.

Day 185: Teddy Bears Picnic - We went along to the local Teddy Bears Picnic and Ollie couldn't believe his eyes when Mickey Mouse turned up.  He had a big cuddle with him.

Day 186: Another sleepy one - it was so hot today that even the children didn't stay outside for long.  I went in to find Ollie had made himself a bed on the rug in amongst his trains and track.

Day 175: Made it to his bedroom but he's asleep on the floor
Day 176: I want his eyelashes!
Day 177: Big smiles
Day 178: Lego - it's a robot :)
Day 179: School Fayre
Day 180: Kickboxing grading

Project 365: Days 97 - 103

Day 97: Rocking fun - My little one discovered his rocking cow that I'd just put on eBay.  He hasn't touched it for months but must have known that it was time for it to go.  He did have a fun five minutes playing on it, though he is a bit big for it now.

Day 98: Rex - this is the only dog we'll have for the foreseeable future.  Good friends of ours bought him for the boys and they all love him.  I'd love a pet for the children at some point but I know it would be too much at the moment. Maybe when they're a little bit older.

Day 99: Sleeping like a baby - My oldest boy is turning seven this week.  I can remember the day he was born like it was yesterday and I can't believe that seven years have passed since then.  He tries to act so grown up but when I watch him sleeping I remember how young he really is.

Day 100: Making lists - he's hard at work making a list of friends that he wants to invite to his birthday party.  He's so excited about it and can't wait to give the invitations out.  That's my job for tomorrow.

Day 101: The little one and I went out for lunch with friends and it obviously wore the poor little thing out.  He fell fast asleep as soon as we got home and that's where he stayed for some time.  I try not to let him sleep during the day as it's hard work to get him to bed in the night but he must have needed this.

Day 102: Book Day - The boys school had a book day today where all the children got to dress up and take their favourite book into school.  My middle boy decided to go as Harry Potter and I thought he looked amazing all dressed up.  My oldest went as one of the boys from The Famous Five (I think so that he didn't have to wear a costume).

Day 103: Fascination - We spent the weekend with good friends in Manchester and we all had a wonderful time.  My little one was fascinated with the front camera on my phone so I ended up taking lots of photos of him.

Project 365: Days 83 - 89

Day 83: Party time - The boys went to a birthday party today.  We tend to have at least one most weekends since the oldest two started school.  They had a great time on the bouncy castle and in the ball pit, and my oldest was very pleased when he managed to throw a ball through the basketball hoop.

Day 84: Feed the birds - The first day of the Easter holiday and luckily the weather was dry, though very cold.  The boys decided to take some leftover bread out into the garden to feed the birds.

Day 85: Photo opportunity - Here are my younger two laughing at being able to see themselves on my phone screen. They love having their photo taken.

Day 86: Coughing boy - Just 24 hours later and my baby boy is poorly again.  We had a bit of a rough night with coughing fits that ended with vomit.  There were lots of changes of clothes and we were all covered with towels.

Day 87: Biscuits - My little one was feeling a lot better today and he enjoyed his Easter Bunny biscuit.  I wish I could say that I'd made it myself but it came courtesy of Greggs.

Day 88: Hotel - Today we travelled to Slough to stay in the Premier Inn ready for our adventure in Legoland.  I was very impressed with the room and we all had a great night.  There were also the friendliest hotel staff that I have ever met.

Day 89: Legoland! - We spent the day at Legoland and had the most amazing time.  I'm going to write a post about it this week but here is a photo of the oldest two with Darth Vader.

Project 365: Days 76 - 82

Day 76: Fireman Sam - O is going through a dressing up phase and is loving his Fireman Sam sleepsuit at the moment. I just adore the toddler phase.

Day 77: My three boys - it's next to impossible to get a decent photo of the boys together but I came home from work today and they were all in a cooperative mood.  It was only when I looked back at the photo that I realised my oldest doesn't look too happy.  I think it was because his little brothers were messing around a little bit.

Day 78: Rock Star - E was trying to develop his rock star slide with the guitar.  He didn't quite get it though and just ended up lying flat on the floor!

Day 79: Thomas fan - O spent most of the day playing with his trains.  He's lined up all of his Thomas trains to go around the track.

Day 80: Driving in his car - the weather was a bit nicer today so we dusted off the battery operated Lighning McQueen car for O. He loved it!

Day 81: Puddle jumping - O took great delight in jumping in every puddle in our driveway. He soaked himself (and me) but it was great fun.

Day 82: A new belt - My oldest two boys had their kickboxing grading today and they both got new belts.  They are doing so well at kickboxing and I am so proud of them.  They are both little stars.

Project 365: Days 55 - 61

Day 55: Mmmm - Not a lot to say about this; a well deserved drink after a busy weekend.
Day 56: Jigsaws: My 5 year old loves doing jigsaws. No-one is allowed to help him, and we can't interrupt him until he's finished.
Day 57: Bath-time tantrums - my two year old does not like being told what to do.  He is going through a very independent phase and likes to make all the decisions.  This is the result of being told he has to get dressed after his bath.
Day 58: Milk monster: I'm not sure if he can get any closer to that cup!  He just loves his milk and will drink it hot, cold, from a cup, beaker or glass - he's not fussy.  As long as he gets some of the white stuff he's happy.
Day 59: Techo-boy - I'm always amazed at how little ones can work all things technological.  My two year old is watching Dora on Netflix on the iPad and he did it all himself.  In fact, I'm not allowed to do it for him (see day 57)
Day 60: Toddler Day at Techniquest - I took my youngest to Techiquest for their toddler day.  As it was St. Davids Day he's wearing his Welsh rugby top and has had the Welsh dragon painted on his face (on both cheeks at his insistence).  He didn't stand still in Techniquest and ran from one thing to another, until he found this mirror.  It had him in fits of giggles as he saw his large, stretched image. It was very cute to watch.
Day 61: A rarity - here is a photo of my oldest son at bedtime.  I don't seem to get as many photos of him any more as he's either at school or out playing so I thought I'd take the opportunity of taking one while he's sat still. He's growing up so quickly.

Project 365: Days 41 - 47

I am struggling to blog at the moment but will be continuing with Project 365.  Here goes week 7.

Day 41: Pancakes! - The children were going to spend a few days at their grandparents so I decided to do Pancake Day early.  My eldest helped to make the batter and then it was my middle boy's responsibility to spread the nutella on. My youngest just helped to eat them.  They were delicious.

Day 42: A quiet meal in - the children are spending the night at their grandparents so hubby and I got to sit down to a nice meal and glass of wine without any interruptions.  It was very strange.

Day 43: A sad day - I received a telephone call from my sister late on Monday night letting me know that our uncle had passed away.  He had fought a very long and brave battle with cancer and my mother had been with him every step of the way.  My mother is the most amazing woman I know. I am sad for the loss of my uncle, and sad for my mother who has lost her little brother.  (I know this is cheating as it's a screen shot rather than a photo but it's the best I could do for today.)

Day 44: A touch of snow - my boys are home from their grandparents and were very excited to see some snow.  We only had a bot of a dusting though, and the rain washed it all away later in the day.  They still managed an hour outside.

Day 45: Happy Valentines Day - hubby gave me this single red rose.  We had decided not to do anything for Valentines Day but he came home from work with this rose the day before.  I think it was more to do with what has been happening this week and how sad I've been rather than a romantic gesture, but it was still lovely.

Day 46: Arts and crafts - our local Council had an open day at the sports centre so I took the boys down for a few hours.  Here they are enjoying painting Spongebob Squarepants onto a bag.  I think they've done a really good job.  Unfortunately, this deteriorated a little while later and my youngest ended up with lots of glue and glitter in his hair.  That was fun to get out.

Day 47: Sleepy time - I have spent the day shopping, cleaning and ironing and will admit to almost forgetting to take a photo.  I managed this one just twenty minutes before midnight.  It may be last minute but I do love photos of them sleeping.

My favourite photo this week is the photo of the rose.  It reminds me that there is beauty in life even when I feel like everything around me is falling apart.  I feel so sad.

It's time for week two of Project 365 over on The Boy and Me.  It's been a bit of a strange week with poorly children so we haven't been out much.  We still managed to have some fun indoors though.
