Project 365: Days 111 - 117

Day 111: New bed - my little one is asleep in his new bed but it hasn't been easy.  He keeps going back into my bed any chance he gets.  I'm sure we'll get there but it could be a difficult week.  Wish me luck.

Day 112: Spring cleaning - I've been sent a steam cleaner to review and I'm strangely excited at the prospect.  Is that wrong?

Day 113: Having fun - I got up to find my three boys playing and looking at books in our new mini library (how posh am I?)  It was a lovely sight to see them all smiling and laughing,

Day 114: For sale - I'm trying to make a bit of extra cash by eBaying anything I can.  The only downside is having a bedroom full of bags of items for sale.

Day 115: Colouring - my middle and youngest boys decided to do a bit of colouring today.  The only problem was that my youngest decided to colour himself in too.

Day 116: Smiles - but unfortunately this was quickly followed by tears as my little one developed a really bad cough which I think is croup.  He was really poorly and I was up with him for most of the night.  I hope he gets well soon.

Day 117: Gardening - we did some planting today; the boys planted sunflower, pumpkin and sweetcorn seeds that we were sent to review.  They really enjoyed themselves and can't wait to do some more.

Project 365: Days 104 - 110

Day 104: Lunch time - my little one making a good effort with his Sunday lunch. He always insists on using full size cutlery even though he struggles to use them.

Day 105: Sleeping boy - after such a busy day he couldn't manage to stay awake for the day and fell asleep on the floor.

Day 106: Balloons - my oldest boy is 7 tomorrow and we've prepared the house ready for him.  It only feels like yesterday that he was born.

Day 107: Birthday Boy - he has had am amazing day which ended with a family party and homemade chocolate cake.  Where have the last 7 years gone?

Day 108: Kickboxing - the boys practice their kickboxing nearly every night and it's paid off as they're really good at it.  My oldest boy does some fantastic kicks.

Day 109: Converse - he had his first pair of Converse for his birthday. He is such a cool dude.

Day 110: Books - we have had a really busy day moving my middle and youngest boys into a new bedroom and converting the old nursery to a mini library.  The boys love it as all their books are in there mow.  My youngest wasn't too impressed when I took his cot apart and I'm wondering how he's going to settle in his big boys bed tonight.

Project 365: Days 97 - 103

Day 97: Rocking fun - My little one discovered his rocking cow that I'd just put on eBay.  He hasn't touched it for months but must have known that it was time for it to go.  He did have a fun five minutes playing on it, though he is a bit big for it now.

Day 98: Rex - this is the only dog we'll have for the foreseeable future.  Good friends of ours bought him for the boys and they all love him.  I'd love a pet for the children at some point but I know it would be too much at the moment. Maybe when they're a little bit older.

Day 99: Sleeping like a baby - My oldest boy is turning seven this week.  I can remember the day he was born like it was yesterday and I can't believe that seven years have passed since then.  He tries to act so grown up but when I watch him sleeping I remember how young he really is.

Day 100: Making lists - he's hard at work making a list of friends that he wants to invite to his birthday party.  He's so excited about it and can't wait to give the invitations out.  That's my job for tomorrow.

Day 101: The little one and I went out for lunch with friends and it obviously wore the poor little thing out.  He fell fast asleep as soon as we got home and that's where he stayed for some time.  I try not to let him sleep during the day as it's hard work to get him to bed in the night but he must have needed this.

Day 102: Book Day - The boys school had a book day today where all the children got to dress up and take their favourite book into school.  My middle boy decided to go as Harry Potter and I thought he looked amazing all dressed up.  My oldest went as one of the boys from The Famous Five (I think so that he didn't have to wear a costume).

Day 103: Fascination - We spent the weekend with good friends in Manchester and we all had a wonderful time.  My little one was fascinated with the front camera on my phone so I ended up taking lots of photos of him.

A view to nowhere

When I first had the email informing me that Wooden Blinds Direct were running a competition to find the worst window view I couldn't think of anything to write about.  I live in the South Wales Valleys and most of my views consist of mountains and generally very pretty scenery.  I've always been lucky on my holidays to have quite nice views from my hotel windows.  Then, I went into work one day and it hit me.

The only thing I complain about in work is that my office is below road level so I have no view.  I look out of my window and there are lots of brambles and bushes, and if I crane my neck I sometimes manage to see peoples feet as they walk past.  I always like to be quite positive and will say that during the winter months, there is a lovely little robin who pays us a visit and lands on the bush.  It's the highlight of my year.

I suppose another positive is that during the week of warm weather that us Brits call summertime, I can't actually see the sunlight so don't get that feeling of disappointment that I'm stuck in the office.  Similarly, the rain never seems so bad.  It's kind of like working in a cave.

But it's green and natural, I hear you say.  At least it's not concrete right?  But concrete doesn't move.  This stuff looms over me and creeps forward slowly until I feel like it's going to bury me alive.  Then the caretaker appears and cuts it all back until all that's left is a bunch of sticks raised threateningly at me.

It's so bad that I always ask if I can move into the upstairs offices.  What do they have a view of you might ask?  Well, their only view is of the cemetery which is situated next to our office.  At least it's peaceful I suppose.

Project 365: Days 90 - 96

Day 90: Chocolate! - I never usually get an Easter egg all to myself but hubby surprised me with this massive Dairy Milk one.  Happy Easter to me.

Day 91: My boys - We went to my in-laws for lunch and an Easter egg hunt which the boys thoroughly enjoyed.  This is after they'd found (and eaten) their chocolate.

Day 92: More chocolate - there's just too much of it in the house.  I finished off this bag of mini eggs as I figured that the sooner it was eaten the better.  The problem is there's still lots more to eat.  Well, if I must.....

Day 93: LEGO - my oldest son has started following the instructions to build LEGO vehicles.  He's really good at it and follows the instructions perfectly.  He obviously takes after me.

Day 94: Shower - almost a year after ripping our old shower out we finally have a brand new one.  It's amazing.

Day 95: Painting rocks - we had a bit of a craft day today.  The older boys did their homework ready to go back to school next week and then we painted some rocks and anything else the boys could get their hands on.  It was great fun.

Day 96: Pampering - I went on a spa day to my local hotel and had an eye treatment and a manicure.  It was bliss to sit there in peace, have a lovely lunch with a glass or two of wine, and a chat.  I feel very chilled out now.  Maybe I should do it more often.
